When IVF and ICSI don’t result in a successful embryo implantation and pregnancy, it is called Embryo Implantation Failure. If this happens more than three times, it is Recurrent Embryo Implantation Failure (RIF).
It is usually caused by a deficiency in the embryo’s DNA, but can also be due to genetic and chromosomal abnormalities or the woman’s age, with the likelihood increasing from age 35 upwards.
